One must consider their spending when drawing a budget. Think about spending money on a certain item. When payment comes, multiply the amount by four. Pay for the item with a quarter of the amount. With the rest of it, save a quarter of it in ones saving. With another quarter, put it towards debt. Finally with the last quarter, tithe or give. In this way, one will be mindful of their budget and live below their means. They will also be able to get out of debt by putting money towards it, as well as saving for their future.
Here is how it works: when one goes to buy something (book, food, coffee, etc.) keep track of it. Next, write down or record it in a daily journal. Then, put that amount into three separate accounts. Do this each time.
For example, when purchasing a cup of coffee that costs $3, the coffee will cost $12.
Take $3 and pay for it.
$3 goes into a savings account
$3 goes towards paying off debt
$3 can be donated.
Make one’s budget into four equal parts.
